  • All tickets and progress are preserved for the relaunch on October 1.
  • Players get a free entry to a $100K Super Crazy Freeroll as a thank you.
WPT Global $2 Million GTD Crazy Freerolls
They were called Crazy for a reason -- and now, after a record-breaking few weeks, WPT Global’s flagship freeroll series is taking a breather. The site has officially paused its $2 million Crazy Freerolls promotion, citing server strain from overwhelming participation.

The break is temporary, though, and it comes with a rather generous apology gift. Players won’t be losing anything they’ve already earned -- and they’ll all be getting a free shot at six figures when the series returns.

A Free Ride That Hit Max Capacity

The concept behind Crazy Freerolls was always bold. No buy-ins. Big guarantees. Frequent chances to win. WPT Global rolled out daily $10,000 freerolls six days a week, building toward $100,000 events every Sunday. It didn’t take long for the player base to take notice -- and then keep showing up in droves.

With tickets being handed out through gameplay, referrals, and satellites, it quickly became one of the busiest promotions in the site’s history. In fact, the turnout was so heavy that the tech couldn’t quite keep up. All the Lag, glitches, and pressure on the platform pushed the team to make a decision to pause, fix, and come back stronger.

October Relaunch and a $100K Thank You

According to WPT Global, the promotion will officially return on October 1, after a full server upgrade. In the meantime, players can rest easy knowing all their progress,  every ticket earned and every point banked will carry over untouched.

To make up for the downtime, WPT Global will be awarding all players an entry into a special $100,000 Super Crazy Freeroll once the series is back up and running. That tournament alone will feature a $20,000 top prize - no additional steps needed, no strings attached.

Still Paying Out Behind the Scenes

On the affiliate side, nothing has slowed down. Week 2 of the Crazy Freerolls was still counted and credited, with more than $30,000 paid out in commissions as of September 1. So while the tables might be quieter for now, the engine behind the campaign hasn’t stalled.

Back on the Felt in October

This isn’t the first time a promo has become a victim of its own success -- and it probably won’t be the last. But if WPT Global’s response is any indication, the downtime will be worth it. Bigger capacity, smoother events, and a hefty freeroll waiting at the end of the tunnel? It’s a good reason to stay tuned for October.

Once the lights come back on, it’s game on.
